Summer 2022

We're back with another SAFE and FUN summer at Next Stop Broadway! Campers are split into age appropriate pods that stay safely in their classrooms while instructors rotate bringing fun activities designed just for them in singing, dancing, acting, performing, and more! Each session culminates in a fully designed production, in which EVERY camper participates.

Registration Info:

  • Only $99 down to reserve your space! Offer ends May 15, after which tuition due in full
  • All Registrations require a $5 Service Fee per child, per session - not to exceed $15
  • After submitting your online Registration, you will receive a confirmation email from the Box Office with additional information & payment instructions. Balance for each session is due two Friday's prior to the session start date. Payments can be made at the Box Office or over the phone by calling 954.344.5990.
  • All families must submit digital Medical & Sign Out Authorization per child before the start of camp
  • All families must submit digital Covid Compliance Acknowledgement before the start of camp, AND Mask Opt-Out Authorization if applicable

Health & Safety Update:

Next Stop Broadway and The Center continue to be committed to the health and well-being of our families, campers and staff. Next Stop Broadway's health & safety regulations are governed by the Department of Children & Families in alliance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's protocols. In response to improving local conditions in Broward County, following the guidance of the CDC, and our advisors, we have updated our current health and safety guidelines for Summer Camp 2022. 

Masks will be optional, though campers will only be allowed to opt-out with parental permission. To participate maskless, families must first sign the digital opt out form. Click Here for Mask Opt-Out Authorization.

The safety of our patrons, campers and staff is of the utmost importance to us and we will continue to monitor conditions and regulations that will keep everyone safe. As extra precaution, we will continue temperature checks and hand sanitization as campers enter the facility.

Youth Camp (Ages 7-13)

Campers stay safely separated into age-appropriate Pods throughout their camp experience participating in fun & exciting curriculum designed and facilitated by their Pod’s Instructors. They are visited daily by the Production team, learning their group scenes, songs, and dances. The Activities Department also visits bringing tasks for Spirit Rallies, Dress Up Days, Talent Shows, etc. The camper's day is jam packed and extremely active while learning and participating in every class. Pods also safely rotate to the theater and lunch area.

Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney's Descendants: The Musical is a brand-new musical comedy featuring the beloved characters and hit songs from the films!

About the Show: It is present-day, and in the kingdom of Auradon, all of Disney’s beloved heroes and royalty are living happily ever after, safe from the terrifying villains and troublesome sidekicks they have banished to the magic-free Isle of the Lost. That is until Ben, the benevolent teenage son of Belle and King Adam (The Beast), offers a chance of redemption for the troublemaking offspring of the evilest villains. Mal, Evie, Jay and Carlos – the children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil, and Jafar – are welcomed to Auradon Prep to attend school with the children of their parents’ sworn enemies. Now entering a completely foreign world and way of life, the four Villain Kids have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?

Session 2 • SPONGEBOB • July 5–July 22

About the Show: The stakes are higher than ever in this dynamic stage musical, as SpongeBob and all of Bikini Bottom face the total annihilation of their undersea world. Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes center stage. The power of optimism really can save the world!

Session 3 • FROZEN JR • July 25–August 12

Summer2022_Show3.pngFrozen Jr. is based on the 2018 Broadway musical, and brings Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life, onstage! The show features all of the memorable songs from the animated film, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.

About the Show: A story of true love and acceptance between sisters, Frozen Jr. expands upon the emotional relationship and journey between Princesses Anna and Elsa. When faced with danger, the two discover their hidden potential and the powerful bond of sisterhood. With a cast of beloved characters and loaded with magic, adventure, and plenty of humor, Frozen Jr. is sure to thaw even the coldest heart!

Pods

Pods are arranged by camper's age/birth date. Shortly before the start of each session, families will be sent an e-mail stating their camper's pod placement, instructors, and group color.

Please Note: To ensure the safety of campers and staff, each Pod has their own allotted arrival and dismissal time. Siblings attending camp can arrive and dismiss at the same time.

Lunch Program

Our lunch program offers high-quality and safely prepared food at reasonable prices. The camper's Pod rotates daily to the lunch area outside in the tented/air-circulated courtyard where they safely distance themselves sitting comfortably at large tables. Each lunch period is approx 25 minutes long, allowing enough time to eat and clean up. The lunch program is always an option for families as an alternative to bringing their lunch from home. Available for purchase closer to the start of camp.

  • Tuesday: Jimmy John's Sandwiches (Turkey/Cheese or Ham/Cheese)
  • Wednesday: Hebrew National Hot Dogs (x2)
  • Thursday: Doris' Spaghetti & Sauce with Tossed Salad
  • Friday: Doris' Chicken Tenders with Carrots & Celery

When & Where

Pods rotate to the tented and air-circulated Courtyard where they comfortably sit at large tables. Campers will eat in the Theater Lobby as a rain alternative. Each lunch period is about 25 minutes long, allowing enough time to eat and clean up.

Snacks

Daily Snack Intermission. Either bring from home or purchase items from the Concessions Department ($2/each CASH ONLY).

Mid-Morning Snacks: "Parent Friendly” options containing healthy snacks. Available for purchase upon arrival in the Courtyard. 

Afternoon Snacks: "Campers Choice” options with popular treats. Available for purchase during lunch rotation.

Price

The Lunch Program is $8 per day and includes the lunch of the day and a drink.

Full week of lunch: $40 

Snacks available upon arrival and lunch period: $2/each CASH ONLY

How/Where Do I Pay?

Lunch is only available for purchase online. You can select daily options or purchase a full week at once.

Lunch purchases must be made by 9:30am for same day orders - otherwise subject to limited menu.

The Concessions Department will be available every morning from 8:40am-9:30am in the Theater Courtyard near the main building enterance for last minute lunch purchases. Cash or credit card payments only.

Extended Care

Extended Care is a safe, well-supervised independent playtime for our Youth Campers; it is not an extension of our day’s curriculum. Extended care takes place in the Courtyard under the air-circulated tent. Payment for Extended Care must be paid by 6:00pm the day prior to reserve your spot. Payments made through the Box Office. Daily rate for Extended Care is non-transferable. Available for purchase closer to the start of camp.

  • Extended Care - $15 per day
  • Includes Pre-Care (8:00-9:00am) & After Care (4:00-6:00pm)

Activities Department

Next Stop Broadway offers our campers a plethora of opportunities to perform and allow their talents to shine! The Activities Department rotates to all Pods daily where they will safely participate in multiple group competitions, talent shows, and other fun and exciting activities seperate from the Sessions production. 

Spirit Rallies

A weekly Friday event occuring every non-show week at 2pm in the Theater.  An all out camp pep rally featuring performances for campers by campers. Every year features brand new, exciting themes that are sure to make everyone feel like the superstar they truly are. Group winners of each rally will receive an ice cream party at lunch! Please note - due to building restrictions, families are not to attend the live Spirit Rally shows. Performances will be recorded and included in the session's Digital Show File.

Dress Up Days

If it’s a Wednesday, then it must be dress up day! This summer we present a fresh new batch of dress up day themes that are sure to entertain and unite the camp. All themes can be accessible through you and your family’s closets! Two winners from each group will be chosen, and featured in the Dress Up Day music video, in addition to receiving a special certificate. The wackier & more imaginative, the better!

Talent Extravaganza

Every Friday morning on the last day of each session, we will showcase the very best talent our campers have to offer. Campers will compete in an array of competitions throughout the session, and the winners will get to perform their pieces as an opening act for the Friday evening performance. Some of the competitions are as follows:

  • Next Stop Broadway Idol – Like the popular TV show, this singing competition will start with an audition process open to all campers. You can audition as a solo act, a duo, or as a group. Throughout the session, the competition is narrowed down to one act representing each group, who will compete in the NSB Talent Extravaganza finale show.
  • Next Stop Broadway’s Got Talent – Musicians, magicians, dancers, and more! Each spirit rally and NSB Talent Extravaganza competition will feature performances completely created by you. Auditions will be held weekly during the Activities rotation.
  • Next Stop Broadway Film Festival/Tik Toks – Campers can submit 2-minute or less videos or TikTok's to be featured in our Spirt Rallies and Extravaganza. 

Teen Theatre Project (Ages 14+)

The Teen Theatre Project is the complete, pre-professional experience for aspiring performers. Set in a safe & encouraging environment where EVERYONE participates in the creation of the fully designed production. Participants will submit a virtual audition prior to the start of the Teen Project so that show preparations can begin on day one. Led by our all-star staff, the Teen Project is the perfect vehicle for young performers to advance their skills, build confidence, and perform on stage!

Teen Theatre Project • THE ADDAMS FAMILY • July 5-August 6 (SOLD OUT)

Summer2022_Show4.pngThe Addams Family is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. The show is based upon The Addams Family characters which depict a ghoulish American family with an affinity for all things macabre

About the Show: The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Health & Safety Protocols

A critical component of NSB’s safety regulations is following all Center of Disease Control (CDC) and Department of Children and Families (DCF) guidelines to ensure providing a protected environment for our students and staff. As currently mandated...

  • Masks/facial coverings are required for all campers unless families have signed the digital opt out form allowing them to participate mask-less. Click Here for Mask Opt-Out Authorization.
  • All Campers and Staff members will have their temperature taken and hands sanitized upon entrance to the facility.
  • Camp participation is limited to 175-200 Youth campers in each session and 40 Teen Project students. Youth campers are then separated into age-appropriate Pods of 35-40 campers each to assure safety and reduce possible contagious exposure.
  • All Campers arrive and depart at their own Pod’s designated time allowing safety and social distancing to be enforced.
  • All rooms, areas and items are sanitized regularly to assure all CDC safety protocols are in place.
  • There are limited shared items. All campers must bring with them a bag with masks, hand sanitizer, tissues, bottled water, pencils, and all other needed items required for class.
  • To limit exposure only registered students and staff are permitted into classroom area – Parents are requested to limit their time on site and plan to come on campus between the hours of 9:40am-3:20pm.

Please do your part and help us prevent the spread of contagious diseases.

Prior to Attending Next Stop Broadway

  • Take your child’s temperature every night for the 3 days leading up to camp and periodically while attending camp thereafter: log this for your own personal use. If your child has a temperature of 100.4 F or higher for any of those days, contact us in advance. Please also check other family members’ temperatures as well to ensure optimum health on the first day they attend NSB.
  • To ensure your child's safety, you should reinforce proper hand washing techniques and the avoidance of face touching. Also discuss the need to stay at a comfortable distance from everyone.
  • All families must submit the mandatory digital Medical & Sign Out Authorization in addition to the digital Covid Compliance Acknowledgment which must be submitted prior to the start of camp.  
  • All registrations, and tuition payments should be done in advance which will help to limit the amount of person-to-person contact.

During Camp

All Campers arrive and depart at their own Pod’s designated time allowing safety and social distancing to be enforced.

All parents are to remain in their vehicles when dropping off and picking up children.

  • Dropping Off: Remain in your car and drive as far forward as possible in the front entrance driving loop and a Staff member will greet you to check student’s temperature and sign them in (Please Note: If your child has a temperature of 100.4 F or higher, they will not be allowed to attend class that day). Please be sure your child is masked and another staff member will greet your child as they sanitize their hands and then lead them to their Pod’s classroom.

Older students who are arriving on their own must be masked and will have their temperature checked and hands sanitized before they are allowed to enter the premises.

  • Picking Up:  To assure your child’s safe release, DCF requires, for identification purposes, that a sign must be placed in your passenger window with your child’s name clearly marked. YOU MUST REMAIN IN YOUR CAR and drive as far forward as possible in the front entrance driving loop and a Staff member will escort your child to your car for pick up. If you do not have a Camper Identification sign in your car window you will be required to pull out of the pickup line and park further up to check your ID and have your pickup privileges verified.

Older students may leave the premises on their own unless prior restrictions are reported to the NSB Office.

  • For safety purposes, If there is a reason you need to visit the box office or speak with a staff member, you are limited to the time period of after 9:40am and before 3:30pm. Please use the parking lot to park and walk into the facility, do not leave your car in the front entrance loop.
  • If anyone displays any symptoms of illness, they will be sent home until the they have fully recovered. Symptoms include fever greater than 100.4 F, cough, difficulty with breathing or shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, loss of taste and smell, etc. All parents will be notified in the event that a child or employee exhibits symptoms.    

After Attending Camp

  • Please wipe down all items your child brings home.
  • Encourage your child to use proper hand washing techniques with soap and water.
  • Periodically check our child’s temperature thought out the week. If your child has a temperature of 100.4 F or higher, they should not plan to attend camp until their temperature is back to normal for 72 hours.

Staff Application

Being a camp staff member is one of the most enjoyable positions available to a young person, but it is also HARD WORK. It involves dealing with children and your peers on a continuous basis. It calls for both physical and emotional stamina and is very demanding. On the other hand, it is a very rewarding job, and gives you outstanding experiences with others and a chance to sharpen your human relations and physical skills. This working relationship is between the company and you; communications given thru your parent or guardian is strictly prohibited.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Desire and ability to work with children and adults in camp setting.
  2. Ability to relate and enjoy the chosen age group or assigned  department.
  3. Care for children with compassion and respect.
  4. Background in the performing arts or visual arts.
  5. Good character, integrity, maturity, and adaptability.
